Dark Side

By Hamid Abdollahzadeh

I have sat upon the Moon,

Gazing at the Earth’s sundown.

I behold myself,

For heavyheartedness has fatigued me.

And yet this distance has not even taken the edge off it.

I’m agaze;

And, it matters not how much the Earth rotates and revolves,

I do not come out of the dark side of it.

Just as the blue sky would not be there,

And you would still seek yourself in the midst of a blue dot,

From everywhere in the universe…

Just as there would neither be wind nor rain,

To erase your footprint…

Just this…

If only there was no gravity,

Then I would never ever be able

To once again land upon that dark side.
